Spitfire Park is a 400-acre former RAF Spitfire base just off the South West Coast Path near Perranporth, Cornwall.
With spacious grassy pitches in a field next to an old control tower, this site has all sorts of adventurous activities to try out. During your stay, options may include parachuting, flying lessons, skid car training, archery, pistol shooting and hangliding; there are also dual-control cars where the over-12s can learn to drive in a safe environment.
Activities aside, this is a handy place to park yourself: there are modern toilets, showers and washing-up areas as well as a café and a kids’ playground. The coast is within easy walking distance and the closest sandy beach is a five-minute drive down the road in Perranporth.
After soaking up some sunshine by the water, head into the town centre for supermarkets, pubs, cafés and souvenir shops. Want to leave the car at home? You can also travel between the site and Perranporth by bus
